~ Canada has a new Prime Minister in the person of Mark Carney, a former banker, who is not a member of Parliament. Recently elected leader of the Liberal Party, he will turn 60 years on Sunday, March 16. Twenty-three members of his cabinet were also sworn in by Canada's Governor General Mary Simon in ceremonies in Ottawa.

23 Members of His Cabinet Were Also Installed in Ottawa

TORONTO - Former banker Mark Carney, a non-member of Parliament. officially became Canada’s 24th Prime Minister, replacing Justin Trudeau who had resigned earlier on Friday, March 14.
Canada's Governor General Mary Simon sworn in Carney alongside the 23 members of the 30th Canadian Ministry at Rideau Hall in the capital Ottawa.
"The new Cabinet is the team that will work to deliver the fastest growing economy in the G7, put more money in your pockets, and stand strong against Donald Trump," a press statement said.
"This new, leaner, focused Cabinet includes returning ministers, seasoned leaders, and new voices who will bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the team as it delivers on the things that matter most to Canadians, such as strengthening Canada’s economy and security," the statement added
The new Cabinet - the central decision-making forum in government, responsible for its administration and the establishment of its policy - is as follows:
- Mark Carney, Prime Minister
- Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of International Trade and Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the King’s Privy Council for Canada
- Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development
- François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance
- Anita Anand, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry
- Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence
- Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services
- Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources
- Ginette Petitpas Taylor, President of the Treasury Board
- Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Culture and Identity, Parks Canada and Quebec Lieutenant
